Venice History...

221 West Miami Avenue, built in 1926, was the real estate office
of H.N. "Bud" Wimmers. When the boom (1925 - 1929)
turned to bust (1930 - 1933), Mr. Wimmers was appointed receiver
for the BLE Realty Corp. and close the company's business affairs
in Venice. In addition to operating his real estate office,
he worked as a business representative for the Florida Power and
Light Co., Peninsular Telephone Co., Western Union Telegraph Co.,
and the Venice Waterworks. Newcomers could buy their homes
and get their utilities connected in one stop. The building
received a new paint job in 2006.
