Venice MainStreet is committed to preserving and enhancing a
quality environment in downtown Venice for present and future
generations through organized volunteer efforts by focusing
on its historic character and economic vitality.

We welcome you to join our award winning MainStreet organization and help us continue to support the downtown area. Venice MainStreet is part of the National and Florida MainStreet organizations and was created to preserve the home town atmosphere that is vanishing in our culture today. We are a destination for year-round tourists, providing a unique shopping and cultural experience.

When you become a member of Venice MainStreet, your business receives many benefits. These include:

* Media co-op advertising at a group rate
* Inclusion in downtown community activites
* Subscription to the "The AveNEWS" monthly newsletter
* Listing in the Membership Directory
* Business link on official website

Each year, MainStreet answers thousands of questions from residents and visitors about the downtown area. The questions range from availability of office or retail space, names and types of stores and restaurants, times and locations of events and everything in between.
When these calls are received, MainStreet makes the appropriate referrals to its members. We also update the Archway marquee at the intersection of Business 41 and Venice Avenue and the Information Kiosk, located in Centennial Park in the center of downtown.

In 2007, Venice MainStreet will host or co-host no less than 23 events downtown. Some of the major events include the Art Fest, Downtown Art Classic, Sidewalk Sales, Miami Avenue Craft Fair, and the Christmas Walk.

For all of these events, MainStreet obtains the necessary permits, provides insurance, advertises and organizes the entertainment. Additionally, we arrange volunteer manpower to staff the events. These events draw tens of thousands of visitors, diners and shoppers to the downtown area.

Venice MainStreet also helps to enhance downtown Venice with a variety of partnerships including the City of Venice and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice. We have recently completed construction of the Children's Fountain in Centennial Park that is attracting children, parents and grandparents to downtown.

We have also provided input to the City of Venice on the Central Business District Design Study on how to improve the look, feel and experience of downtown Venice. Most recently, we purchased garland for the streetlights for the holiday season.
